July 20-24 REGISTER Serve: RISING 9th-12th GRADERS
Williamsburg Serve: Williamsburg

New City, Same Mission. We’re taking Serve Camp on the road to make life happen in Williamsburg.

Serve: Williamsburg is a hybrid camp experience inspiring and empowering young people to make life happen beyond their community. While our mission is to serve, we’ll prioritize time for teens to simply be themselves and enjoy each other’s company, fostering meaningful relationships through a mix of hard work and pure summer fun.

Campers will begin the week in Loudoun Monday and Tuesday, serving locally, building community, and preparing as a team before traveling to Williamsburg Tuesday evening. Wednesday and Thursday, they’ll be fully immersed in the needs of Williamsburg, partnering with organizations on the front lines and supporting community efforts through hands-on love projects.

Did we mention we’ll have a blast too? Beach volleyball, mini golf, pool time, movie nights, you name it. We want our campers to work hard and have a great time together. On Friday, campers reunite with all Loudoun campers to celebrate the week at Busch Gardens before returning home together for pickup at midnight.

We are committed to empowering the next generation of life makers to affect change in the world, and we believe that experiences like Serve: Williamsburg will help campers discover what it truly means to lead, serve, and make life happen.

FAQ’s

How are Serve: Loudoun and Serve: Williamsburg different?

  • Serve: Loudoun is our traditional High School experience providing meaningful love projects and opportunities to serve right here in our community. Campers will be exposed to a variety of love projects throughout the DMV Monday-Thursday. Friday they will celebrate their hard work at Busch Gardens.
  • Serve: Williamsburg is a hybrid, immersive experience empowering young people to make life happen beyond their community. Campers will start the week (Monday–Tuesday) serving in the DMV before relocating to Williamsburg to engage with the unique needs of that community. On Friday, they will reunite with the Loudoun campers for a full day at Busch Gardens. Please note that the Serve: Williamsburg experience carries a higher cost due to its extended programming, travel, and accommodations.

How will students get to Williamsburg and travel during the week?

Students will be transported to and from Williamsburg by a professional transportation company. Trained professional and licensed drivers will transport campers once in Williamsburg. At times we will recruit licensed and insured volunteers who have passed a background check to transport campers as needed.

Where will students stay and how are accommodations handled?

Accommodations are arranged at Club Wyndham’s Governor’s Green to provide secure, separate spaces for boys and girls, and campers will be supervised by trained counselors and administrative staff throughout their stay.

Are meals included in Williamsburg?

Meals will be provided from Tuesday evening through Friday evening. Campers will receive dinner on Tuesday, followed by breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks each day for the remainder of the week. Please indicate any dietary restrictions at the time of registration; while we will make every effort to accommodate them, we may not be able to meet all specific dietary needs.

Will there be any downtime?

ABSOLUTELY! While we will work hard during the day, there will be plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy time together. Our accommodations feature mini golf, a pool, beach volleyball, and other recreational activities, in addition to nearby Colonial Williamsburg and beaches.

Should I send extra money with my camper?

Whether or not to send additional money is up to you. However, we do encourage campers to bring some spending money if they would like the option to purchase snacks, souvenirs, or participate in optional activities at the amusement park or during free time.

What kind of training is required for the camp counselors?

What a great question! Each camp counselor goes through an internal training process before they are allowed to become a Serve Camp counselor. Along with our internal training process, each counselor is required to be certified (and active) in CPR, First Aid, and AED. For our Serve: Williamsburg trip, members of the administrative and counseling team will be MAT (Medication Administration Training) Certified.

What should campers bring for the week?

Campers should bring everything to camp Tuesday morning as they will depart at the end of the camp day to Williamsburg. Campers should pack clothing suitable for love projects (clothing that can get dirty/worn), comfortable shoes, and personal essentials. Our accommodation does include a washer and dryer if needed. A full packing list and pre-trip guidance will be provided prior to departure.

Is Serve Camp a faith based camp?

Serve Camp is a camp based on the life and message of Jesus. Jesus teaches us that love leads to life. Each day campers are introduced to a truth Jesus gave us regarding how we can make life happen (i.e. love, putting others first, servant leadership, sacrifice). Campers are challenged daily to join Jesus in making life happen by embodying his life and message. During small groups counselors debrief the truth of the day with campers in an age-appropriate way, talk about the reality of living out that truth (how we can live it out and how difficult it can be), and challenge them to be life makers now and as a dream for their life.

Is Serve Camp associated with other organizations?

Serve Camp is a 501(C)3 non-profit corporation in the state of Virginia and is an integrated auxiliary of Common Ground Church.
